Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 May 2026
IITMentor (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates iitmentor.app as a free educational platform for JEE Main and JEE Advanced aspirants. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.
1. What we collect
When you use IITMentor we may collect:
- Account information — name, email address and authentication identifier when you sign up via email or Google.
- Study activity — questions you attempt, time spent, mistakes, bookmarks, notes and uploads. This is used solely to power your dashboard, mistake notebook and analytics.
- Device and usage data — browser type, OS, screen size, anonymised IP, pages viewed and approximate location (country/city) for analytics.
- Cookies and local storage — used for sign-in sessions, theme preferences and basic analytics. See “Cookies” below.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the core service — PYQs, mocks, AI explanations, mistake notebook, analytics.
- To personalise your study experience (e.g. spaced repetition, weak-chapter recommendations).
- To improve the platform via aggregate, anonymised analytics.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To detect abuse, fraud or violations of our Terms.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not run third-party advertising on the platform.
3. Cookies
IITMentor uses two types of cookies/local storage:
- Essential — for keeping you signed in, remembering your theme and saving your study state. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
- Analytics — Google Analytics (loaded only after you opt-in via the cookie banner) to help us understand which features students actually use.
You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by clearing site data or from the cookie preferences in your browser.
4. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted vendors to operate the platform:
- Authentication & database — for sign-in and storing your account/study data securely.
- AI providers — your questions to the AI tutor are sent to large-language-model APIs to generate explanations. Conversations are not used to train external models.
- Google Analytics — only after explicit consent.
5. Data retention
We retain your account and study data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@iitmentor.app. We will action verified requests within 30 days.
6. Children’s privacy
IITMentor is intended for students preparing for JEE — typically aged 15 and above. If you are under 13, please do not use the platform without consent from a parent or guardian.
7. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, encrypted database connections, hashed credentials and least-privilege access controls. No system is 100% secure, but we follow industry-standard practices to protect your data.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your account and data.
- Withdraw consent for analytics cookies.
- Export your study data.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@iitmentor.app.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Significant changes will be highlighted on the homepage or via email. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
